The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite officially launched in 2024. Built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm (N3P) process. It features second-generation Oryon cores clocked at up to 4.6 GHz and the new Adreno 840 GPU. It supports hardware-level ray tracing, on-device AI processing, and power efficiency.
CPU and GPU Performance
The Snapdragon 8 Elite comes with two Prime Oryon cores clocked at up to 4.6 GHz and six performance cores clocked at 3.62 GHz. The CPU delivers up to 41% higher single-core performance and 46% higher multi-core performance compared to the last generation, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Adreno 840 GPU delivers up to 25% better performance compared to the previous-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, offering smoother frame rates and improved gaming efficiency. It is clocked at 1.2 GHz and features hardware-level ray tracing with global illumination, bringing console-like lighting, shadows, and reflections to mobile gaming for the first time.
AI Engine and Hexagon NPU
The 8th Generation Hexagon NPU delivers up to 45% higher performance compared to the last generation. It can handle on-device AI tasks, such as photo editing, live voice translation, and text summarization. It has a computation power of 55 TOPS (trillion operations per second).
Connectivity & Camera ISP
When it comes to connectivity and camera capabilities, the Snapdragon 8 Elite features the Snapdragon X75 modem and a triple 18-bit Spectra ISP. The Snapdragon X75 offers download speeds of up to 10 Gbps and upload speeds of 3.5 Gbps, with improved Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
